Why Can’t We Smell Colors?
I was working and one day I imagined a very beautiful color. It was something like shiny pupple. This color was very pleasing to me. Then, I imagined a lot of sexy women wear jeans with this color. Then, one question aroused. Why can’t I smell this sexy clolor? I have read Bible for a while to find out the answer. This is my work.
“Ears that hear and eyes that see – the Lord has made them both” (Proverbs 20:12). Let’s take a look at his verse. God gave us eyes and ears. I believe that God created us to hear and see because seeing and hearing are different functions. We can see something we can not hear. We can hear something we can not see. However, the nose is not mentioned in this verse. Is a nose unimportant and unworthy to be mentioned in Bible?
“Rich and poor have this in common: the Lord is the Maker of them all” (Proverbs 22:2). Let’s take a look at this verse. The rich and the poor are made equally by God, which means that they are not created to be rich or poor. If rich people and poor people are common in God’s eyes, probably there are certain factors that separate the rich and the poor. The rich sees something the poor can not see, the rich hears something the poor can not hear, and the rich invent something the poor can not think up. In other words, the rich have good senses and wisdom. The rich have great ability to distinguish the advantages and disadvantages.
However, there is another matter. Can the rich smell what the poor can not smell? I don’t think this is a matter. Than, why do we have noses? Why can’t we smell colors?
“If you find honey, eat just enough – too much of it, you will vomit” (Proverbs 25:16). This verse suggests that we have tongues to feel pleasures. However, we can’t still find out the answer. Why can’t we smell colors? Why do we have noses? We can still breathe with our mouths but why we have noses? We can read Bible with eyes. We can listen to audio Bible with ears. However, why we can’t understand Bible with noses? There are still mysteries.
“By faith Abel brought God a better offering than Cain did. By faith he was commended as righteous, when God spoke well of his offerings. And by faith Abel still speaks, and thought he is dead” (Hebrews 11:4). Let’s take a look at this verse. Abel sacrificed meat offerings, whereas Cain sacrificed vegetable offerings. God was very pleased with the aroma from the meat offerings. This suggests that we probably have noses because God Almighty himself created us in his likeness. In short, we have noses because God himself has a nose. However, what is the real function of noses? Is it for pleasure or breathing?
We are not seeking flowers because of their smells. We seek flowers because they look good. We are seeking foods; we are not seeking smells of foods. Then, why did God created noses to us? Why has God Almighty been existing with a nose? This time I’m going to bring up a different field. Ants are creatures mentioned in Bible. Those creatures communicate each other with smells. I’m bring up this because there are creatures using their noses differently from us. Then, why do we human beings have noses?
I found a very interesting quote from Psalm. “For who is God besides the Lord? And who is the Rock except our God? It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect. He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he enables me to stand on the heights. He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze” (Psalm 18:31 – 34). Let’s take a look at his quote. A rock is mentioned here. We can still see rocks but we can’t hear it, smell it, and taste it. Here is the interesting factor. David says that God is our Rock and strong Fortress. How does David know that a rock is strong? He can not know that a rock is strong by seeing. Absolutely David learned that a rock is strong by touching it with his hands.
In conclusion, most of us believe that we recognize something with eyes and ears. However, we still need our hands to recognize something or even investigate something. We can’t feel anything by touching colors. Neither we can smell colors. I figured out that noses are created for different functions like eyes, ears, and hands. I believe that the main reason for noses are survival matters. For example, you can not eat poison mushrooms but you can smell and recognzie.
I found a very interesting quote from New Testament. “So that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ – to the glory and praise of God” (Philippians 1:10 – 11). Based on this quote, we can infer that we have noses to discern what is best and may be pure. I strongly believe that God added us noses so that we can recognize what is the best and safe.
In conclusion, we figured out why God gave us noses. He gave noses to us so that we can find which is the best and safe. Than, why can’t we smell colors? Ha Ha… We can still hear colors. If someone else tell you colors, you can know which color is. Thanks for reading. God Bless !!!
